Dive RAID Nitrox Diver Specialty Courses

The RAID Nitrox course is your next step after the RAID Open Water 20 program and is a prerequisite for many of the higher level courses.

On the RAID Nitrox course you will learn about dive planning for Nitrox gas mixes (up to 40%), analysis and labeling procedures for cylinders containing Nitrox and gain an understanding of oxygen exposure limits.

The Nitrox Specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills in the use of oxygen enriched gases for Sport Diving. It develops the knowledge required to plan, analyse and use an Enriched Air Nitrox breathing gas mix for recreational no decompression diving, any certified diver who has the equivalent of RAID Open Water 20.

Why use Nitrox

Nitrox is a gas mix containing a higher percentage of oxygen than the air we breathe (>21%).
Diving with a gas mix such as Nitrox has many benefits including;
- Reducing residual nitrogen
- Reduced surface intervals
- Increased alertness after diving
- Safer multiple day diving

RAID Nitrox Diver Specialty has the following content

- Gas planning for Nitrox mixes of up to 40% for recreational diving.
- Correctly calibrate the Nitrox Analyser for pue air
- Correctly Analyse the gas mixture within the Nitrox cylinders
- Correctly tag Nitrox cylinders.
- Dive Planning for maximum 1.4 PpO2 at the target depth.
- Understanding of the planning for oxygen toxicity and the effects of CNS and OTU.

PREREQUISITES
- To be a minimum of 15 years old.
- Certified RAID Open Water 20 or equivalent.
- Completed the RAID registration procedures.

- Complete the quizzes &exam
- Attended practical skills session.
- Optional 2 open water training dive.
